Winner of my choice: When Faith Takes Over by Aisha!

In for the last update, apparently a post got deleted accidentally. This is the winner of my choice!
It was hard to choose from different posts because each one was unique! I chose Aisha's because her entry was very touching to the heart and relates to our past!

Congrats, Aisha.

The night before was full of doubts  but when the sun came up  , it was no more doubts . Houses shaking , fire blazing and an unusual rush on the streets. People were freaked out and there were lots of unanswered questions . it was only the beginning of the hideous (live) nightmare. Those questions were later that day answered by all media sources , instructing people to be safe ,and sadly announcing that " Iraq invaded our beloved Kuwait ". 2-8-1990 was terribly an unforgettable day. Was jarrah the ideal warrior ? did her survive ?!

The troop was gathered in a camp located in Alj'hara  and on 2-8-1990 , the tragic began. The troop was courageously defending their country until the next day , Friday , 3rd of August, the Iraqi army trapped the place entirely asking the whole camp to give up , drop their weapons , take off their uniforms then head home. Their choices were to either go back home wearing  " sirwal o Fanila !!" or to get into the bus with your uniforms on and chin up. Very few gave up, but Kuwait is worth sacrificing our lives for, Jarrah and his loyal friends thought, and they had this "3izza" and was willing to do whatever it takes to never disappoint Kuwait . I know what some of you , readers , are thinking " why didn't they resist ?" well, imagine that they were surrounded by hundreds of Iraqi soldiers pointing their weapons at them , so resisting is considered suicidal in that case. The Iraqi leader commanded the warriors to kindly get into the bus. So ,They bravely got in yet scared of what their destinies has for them. In the crowded rattling bus , they sat sound trying to digest the fact that they're now prisoners.

At Albasra's prison

They quietly queued as they were commanded to, and each of them was wondering silently "will they execute us  ?? or .. torture us .. ? or .

And Jarrah was thinking " Allah yastr , ya rab protect us "

Bader, who happened to be Jarrah's friend , gha9ib swallowing and said  : ana khayf?

Jarra7: I think they'll investigate then set us free .. gol inshallah int bs ..

Then, an Iraqi soldier from the background yelled " OSKOT " unsure of who was talking

and randomly shot in the air.

The 70 ish captured soldiers were put into jail so they sat sadly lost in their thoughts , where some were whispering to each other trying to collect  information. The door opened and an Iraqi soldier came in and started randomly picking out men. An awkward silence conquered the place except of course the Iraqi boss barking ! " int chalib . gom " if they tried to resist they get smacked while those who questioned yitcha3imoun. The random pick went on until it finally stopped at Jarrah. When that boss's gaze drew at Jarrah , the Iraqi soldier approached him and clutched his shoulder harshly " hatha seedi ?"

Barking boss: e , hai el 8undara !

Jarra7 angrily shouted: la tsb , Allah yl3ank ..

Jarra7 couldn't stand it , they were beyond jerks and yeah like you all expected , he got beaten up.

Bader interfered : hdoooh .. Allah y5aleekom 5alaa9

And he shot Jarrah a look which said ( iskit 3anhom , be safe) , Jarrah understood it wsikat

Barking boss: kol tbn intaa la yjeek idour

Jarrah and the picked out men were each separated in tiny cells for 3 days and the only person they spoke to was the investigator.

Bader secretly cried every once in a while ,being  taken away from your family , and under the pressure of being shot in any second ( those idiots were absolutely insecure) , compelled to listen to the insults coming out from their filthy mouths and now Jarrah is away. It was too much to handle and they were all psychologically destructed. Bader  hesitantly went to the guard standing by the gate, who had his weapon hanging from his shoulder and as Bader approached , he held it firmly.

Bader: *stuttering*

Guard: i7chee

Bader: where's Jarrah ? is he .. okay ? mm.

Guard interrupted : og3od makanak w la ts2aal !!

Bader went back to his place , stumbling into those on his way .." asif asif" then threw himself on the floor.

Jassim: la t7atee .. gool inshallah bs ..

*Hours later*

The troop was requested to queue and follow that mean barking boss, counted and then pushed into the waiting buses. They were all raged but of course they've never let it out because they know it won't be for their benefit. They only shot each other looks of  anger and hope while enduring the Iraqi's ruthlessness.

 In the bus ,

Bader whispering to jassim : et'haga ra3i elba9 y3arf wain eli 5athaouhom ?!!!

Jassim: ma an9i7ik ts2al .. hathail chibareet

Someone from the background asked:" into wain ma5theenna ??"

Bus driver: mu shughlaak , wnchabuu !

*dead silence*

Then again , Bader:" 9arline sa3tain b'hal ba9 . lemuta !! ", said fed up.

Jassim worryingly said: shhshshsh la ysm3oonna .

The bus parked in an old place ,prisoners were requested to take off their ranks only (not their uniforms). There was a pin drop silence so it was easy to hear the Iraqi discussions. They've arrested 660 kuwaity soldier and they were at AlMoosil's prison , which was basically a castle , a creepy castle of course.

For their first day there , they divided the troops into 70ies and then put into big room , I mean jails which were still considered narrow since 70 was too much for a room!

---

Bader looked very depressed and devastated y7ate everything in Kuwait and of course Jarrah ( he didn't spot him lma shalaw their ranks)

M7mmad: Bader, ethkir Allah ya5oy , inshallah maku ela el5air.

Bader : *sighed* , Jarra7 maadri sh9ar 3laih ..

M7md: Jarra7 AlXXXX?

Bader's eyes widened & said: eeee !

M7md: don't worry , I saw him from a far distance , he must be with another group. you take a rest now  w nfs ma gal hl 8abar (Iraqi guard) the door will open in the morning.

Bader felt a bit relieved and he closed his eyes in an attempt to sleep.

The next morning, Bader was already awaken by the backache caused by the uncomfortable -almost-a-mattress.

In Kuwait

The danger was threatening everyone's life , including  Jarrah's family. Um jarra7 was depressed since one of Jarrah's friends told her that he heard that " Jarra7 istash'had" . She didn't want to lose any other son and she was beyond hurt, so she and Bu Jarrah decided  " We're travelling to Braida , pack in what's important only"

Just before they set off another friend of Jarrah ran towards them , he managed to say while panting " .. ana 7ab a6aminkom 3la Jarra7" . um jarrah's face became paler ,she looked at him with an obvious sorrow in her eyes. " w9alni 5abar inna Jarra7 w rab3a gdiraw yaflton mn el3rageyyen w ra7aw turkeya.." Um jarra7 was utterly puzzled ..so does the rest of his family.

-: " btsafroon ?"

Bu Jarra7: Braidaa.

AlMoosil's castle

The kuwaities were gathered outside in the open fenced ground  where they can see the sun and have food.

-: shswolkom?

Jarrah: they were investigating , I guess they're planning to create a temporary government, bkaif omhom!

-: E,lichlab , lo ymotoon may7a9lon shay.

Jarrah: fwayyz , bdair !! shfekom yuba ,,Pray to god & have some hope ,complaining won't get us anywhere.

Praying , eating (9amoon tibin and if they wanted a change , they could have some of the Iranian prisoners crops) and talking was everyday's routine . They had no news about Kuwait , the situation was deadly depressing  and there was nothing they could be positive about though but still most of them were clinging to some hope.

4 months later..

Jarrah and several prisoners were called for a visit, they've highly doubted it since none of them trusted any Iraqi there. Jarrah was scared and he didn't believe it at first ,until he saw a familiar person smiling at him , Adel , his friend . it was obvious that he was cruelly mistreated;/

Adel happily asked: shlounik 3sak zain ?!!

Jarrah still mu em9adig 3laina ( it was like a fat kid waking up in a room made of chocolate) . jarra7 ti6aman 3la ahala and have wrote them a letter too.

Barking boss: yallah ya 8undara 5ams d8ay8 baje

3adil whispered to jarrah : t9abbar wana o5ook

Jarra7:" Allah karem" then thanked 3adil & sallam 3laih

---

Barking boss: mistanis ya chalb ?! antum el 2an t3taberoon kuwaityen mitmarden 3la seedi ira2ees! < now that was the kind of torture they suffered from each day in the prison and those sick jerks enjoyed it like there's nothing more enjoyable in this world!. Slai76.

Jarra7 was about to insult him back but he got a koo3 from someone beside him : " ibla3haa ibla3haa w la tstathim broo7ik .."

Jarra7 ignored , and went back to his room smiling and prayed (9alat shukr).

2 weeks later

Thanks to the rumors about her son's death & escape , she wasn't totally convinced that the letter  was from her son, but Bu jarra7 read it anyway. They were all touched by jarra7's words which represented true braveness and love , soon they were all in tears , tears of nostalgia & happiness.

The letter shortly said: I had the chance to never leave Kuwait but I preferred  making my country & you proud. 3adil told me you're in Braida , I hope after my sisters are settled there , 5wani  returns to Kuwait " el Kuwait mi7taja rijalha"

Months later

26/2 kuwait's liberated. The prisoners feelings of happiness was priceless :'). No more discretion of pain & they've realized that nothing compares to the taste of freedom they're about to re-experience. Bader who never had hope had spent those 8 months miserably. While jarra7 who prayed and hoped each day for peace had spent it wisely. They've released them by the second of March with the help and efforts of the Red cross.

Jarra7 is finally in Kuwait..

Jarra7: aluu

Um jarra7 suspiciously: aluu mnu ?

Jarra7's eyes filled with tears , he missed his mom's voice so badly , he managed to say : yumma .. ana Jarra7

Um jarra7: yallaa 3ad bala swalif yahhal *hung up*

He smiled then called a minute after and this time bu jarra7 picked up and was silent for a moment , then finally a deep voice " Alu .."

Jarra7: aluu yubaaa ..

And oh lord , the father hung up too !!

Jarra7 understood that they both needed some time to absorb the shock but he couldn't wait anymore , so he decided to travel to Braida.

In Braida

He first saw his younger brother who was in disbelief when he saw jarra7 !

Jarra7 excitedly yelled : 3baaaaaiiiiddddd .

Jarra7 entered the house and saw his parents already staring at the door. Um jarra7 reelha ma shalat'ha due to happiness , she cried and hugged him b8uwa..

After calming down ,

bu jarra7: I'm so proud of you son & proud of that scar..

jarra7: el7imdillah yubaa that's the best credit I'd ever get and Kuwait deserves my scarification and I'm proud of this scar too * points above his eyebrow*and It'll always remind me to put my hopes in ALLAH gabl kl shai.

Winner! Faye Boodi- Rush.

Congratulations to Faye!
This is the winning entry according to what the majority picked as their favorite!

"It's getting late, Katherine. My mother is going to kill us, we should go home; he's not coming." Jane said as she got up from her seat to go to her car. I looked at my watch, which said that it's midnight. "No, I'm not going to leave him, if you want to leave then do it. I'm not going anywhere without him!" I exclaimed.

Wait, this is not the appropriate way to begin my story, let's go back to where my family hates me.
I was adopted by The Wrights as soon as I turned seven, and that's where their loathe for me begins. My biological mother was, somehow, a close friend of Amber Wright. And as soon as my mother got sick, she wrote a letter to Amber in which says something about me being adopted by The Wrights, and something about them being the "right" family for me.
The Wrights are a family of douches, the mother is a douche, the father is a douche, and the daughter is a douche. The reason why I don't live with my biological father? It's because he's a douche, too.
Apparently, the only non-douchey people I know are ones that don't live anywhere near me: My mom, who is dead and in heaven; and Caleb, who is alive and in Canada.
Caleb is my best friend and the only person who knows everything about me. He lives 500 miles away from where I live. He moved to Canada two years ago, when things were going a lot worse than before.
The most exciting thing that ever happened to me -I'm not exaggerating- was receiving a call from Caleb saying that he's coming to Chicago this weekend!

"Jane, did you steal my hairbrush again?" I called to the sister from the other room. But, of course, I had to go get it from her because she always pretends that she "couldn't hear me".
As I got closer to Jane's room her voice became clearer and more hearable.
"Of course I'll be their, babe. No, I'll sneak out of the house. Yeah. Definitely. No, they'll be sleeping. I won't. Okay, sleep tight, babe." Wow, I'll be sure to use that against her. I opened the door carefully soon after she was silent.

Jane: "The hairbrush is over there, bring it back after you're done."

Katherine: "I'm not here for the hairbrush. I heard everything you said on that phone call."

Jane: "So?"

Katherine: "So I'll make sure Amber and Robin know about it."

Jane: "You wouldn't." Her face was priceless.

Katherine: "Oh, believe me I would. Unless you take me to the train station to pick up Caleb."

Jane: "Now?"

Katherine: "Saturday, 10:30 PM."

Jane: "I'll torture you if you tell my parents, and I'll cut you into pieces and hide-"

Katherine: "Sleep tight, babe."

Success. Thank goodness for her stupidity. There's no way in hell Amber and Robin would believe me. They think she's an angel.

Today is going to be the best day of my life. I get to see Caleb and control Jane. What more do I need? I thought to myself as I entered Jane's fancy car. I must say that her parents were freaking out about the fact that Jane is going out with me.
The instant we got to the train station I started looking for the train coming from New York.
"Doesn't he live in Canada?" Jane asked. "He took a plane to New York then a train to Chicago. Now start looking for him."
We looked everywhere for half an hour with no success, so we just sat on the first seats we found and kept waiting there for what seemed like hours. I tried calling Caleb's cell but it kept putting me directly to voicemail. I asked people about the train coming from New York but all I got were shoulder shrugs. And Jane isn't much of a help either; she's texting and giggling, as always.

And being the Jane she always has been, she took her bag and left without saying a word.
The place became emptier by the second. Less sane people, more drunk ones. I saw a group of drunk guys approach me mouthing words I couldn't hear to each other. And the next thing I know I was kicking and screaming. Judging by what I'm hearing, I think I hurt one of them. As soon as I got the chance to, I ran at the speed of light to hide somewhere no one could find me.
It's getting cold, it's 4 AM, and my cell ran out of battery. Now I know how much those douches hate me. I sat in my hiding place for the rest of the night, not getting any bit of sleep, and waiting for Caleb still.
I could see the rays of the sun, it's finally morning, and tremendous amounts of people are coming into the station.
As the place got more crowded, I felt like drowning, no one could help me, no one could hear my silent screams; no one could find what I was looking for. It was like looking for light in the darkest place, I was desperate. I fell deeper and deeper every passing second. I heard cries all over the place, I felt the guilt rush through my blood as my frown turned into a smile, happiness! I forgot how it feels to be happy. I felt happy because of the cries, thinking there was someone drowning with me, turns out it's just me, those were my cries, I'm all alone. I saw his face, as I began to lose hope and crumble, all of the world disappeared and all I saw was his face, his lost and broken face, looking through everything and into a place far away, and finally, his eyes met mine, I could feel his hand pulling me out of my thoughts, I could feel the air around me again, and I realized that I have found what I was looking for, what I was gasping for, I was gasping for breath, for life, for love, for him
